Inventory status control is the activity of keeping track of all of your inventory as it moves through your company. Linear flow concepts have made it even more crucial to be able to locate your material and retrieve it immediately.

Companies that are developing JIT concepts can no longer wait for material handling to find the needed material. Location systems must be simple and flexible and must allow for the users to be able to locate, remove, and replace material efficiently.
